participant protection practice (3p)

WGAZ in partnership with WGI Sport of the Arts is committed to building a community where participants can learn together in an atmosphere free of emotional, physical, and sexual misconduct. We are proud to introduce WGI Studio, our new online learning management system, and Participant Protection Practice (3P), WGI’s custom built, four-year, progressive learning pathway designed to build a strong foundation of safety, ethical behavior, and proactive prevention across the WGI community.

Prior to working with participants, all adult supervisors must complete the Participant Protection Practice (3P) courses, beginning with Course 1: Setting the Standard. Adult supervisors who completed Course 1 for the 2026 season will take Course 2: Understanding Boundaries and Power in preparation for the 2027 season. Completion of each adult supervisor’s Participant Protection Practices training can be tracked by group directors in the WGI Director’s Dashboard.

WGAZ & WGI defines an adult supervisor as “an individual in a managerial, instructional, or design role spending two or more hours in-person per season with participants.”  This includes individuals listed as Primary, Secondary, and Financial contacts for all units, as well as Independent Management Contacts for Independent units.

Additional details:

  • Course 1 costs $17 per learner and takes an estimated 30-45 minutes to complete.

  • Course 2 costs $10 per learner and takes an estimated 30-45 minutes to complete.

  • Each course provides valuable resources which are available to download at the end of the course.

  • Courses may be purchased individually by learners or groups may purchase training credits to distribute among their personnel – see instructions linked below.
